Renfest 2008

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

So this past weekend we went to Renfest. Some people know this by different names - Renaissance Festival, Medieval Fair, etc..

Essentially they are all the same thing. A big area where you are "spiraled back through time to Ye Olde Medival Days". It is pretty interesting. They have a lot of people walking around in period correct outfits & selling a lot of food (smoked turkey legs, steak on a stick, soup in bread bowls, CHOCOLATE) and a lot of medival style crafts/clothing.

I have been to a couple of these in different states. All of the ones I had previously been to were setup in the local fair grounds. They used tents for the food areas & any of the stages had the typical plywood/painted fake backdrops.

The one here in NC is at a permanent location. They have real buildings set up that look authentic. It is a very nice area.

I also used this outing as an excuse to celebrate my Scottish heritage & wear my kilt for the first time. We were lucky enough to have our friends Jared & Jess join us on this magical medieval trip.

Dad update

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately. Things are getting better, but still been hectic.

Dad is doing A LOT better. This past week he has actually started walking without a walker.

They are slowly taking him off oxygen. As soon as he can balance well enough to shower himself, he will be going back home.

For the most part he is back to normal.
